Huh. Shafak's note says she wrote the novel in English and it was first published in Turkey. Was it published in English or Turkish? If in Turkish did Shafak do the translation?

Farmer's Market
Commons Park - across the street from the library - hosted the first Farmer's Market of the year on Wednesday. I took some photos with my fancy computer box telephone.
Dunedin, you might have candied popcorn down there. Kettle corn is popcorn with a sugar coating. There was a guy - he was absent Wed. - who brings a trailer with a large copper cooking kettle and he'll mix in the sugar as the popcorn popped up.
There are always several cheese vendors.

Staff put this table in our magazine room and I declare that it was a good idea.

Lake Mills Market sponsors a "Round Up" program every other month. The Round-Up allows customers to round their final bill up to the next dollar and that amount of change goes to a local organization. The Round Up earned $4,504.01 for the library's Summer Reading Program.

Missoula: rape and the justice system in a college town by Jon Krakauer. So, basically, a lot of towns and universities do a crap job of investigating and prosecuting rapes, and the victim gets slimed by public opinion. Krakauer shows this by writing about victims in Missoula, MT.
Bill O'Reilly's Legends and Lies by David Fisher. "A fascinating, eye-opening look at the truth behind the western legends we all think we know."
Mystery Writers of America Cookbook edited by Kate White. Really? Hey, let's check for my favorites...

Also, according to the bio, Albert should be Dr. Albert. Professor Albert? Well, maybe Professor is only used if the person is emeritus. I should look that up, too.
Gathering Prey by John Sandford. According to this bio Sandford moved to New Mexico.
Death Wears a Beauty Mask: and other stories by Mary Higgins Clark. Clark has been publishing since 1956. These stories span from 1958 to 2015. Mary Higgins Clark has never received the Mary Higgins Clark Award.

Run For Your Lives, Gischler Has Returned.
Fiction
Sally of the Wasteland by Victor Gsichler and Tazio Bettin. Post-apocalyptic action and humor. Through the wonders of the internet I learned last week that Gischler had a warrant issued for his arrest. He was charged with not paying a traffic ticket. Gischler paid the ticket and has an online payment record. Okay, that can happen. What was surprising is when four, maybe more, people commented that they or a relative had the same thing happen and they were arrested and stuck in jail. Dang, that is not good.
Distant Marvels by Chantel Acevedo. 1963 Cuba and a woman tells about her time during the Third War of Independence from Spain.

Just Found a Stack of Items In the Staff Workroom
Fiction - With unrelated commentary.
The Angel of Court Affair by Anne Perry. When it came out that Perry was one of the girls convicted of that infamous 1954 murder in New Zealand it also came out that the other teenager involved, Pauline Parker, now lived a short way away from Perry in England.
Blood on the Snow by Jo Nesbo. Anthony Neil Smith likes these Norwegian books. I'm not sure why I always remember this.
Miracle at August by James Patterson Amalgamated Writer Industries and Peter de Jonge. de Jonge is a cool name.
At The Water's Edge by Sara Gruen. Gruen? Did I read one of her books? Let me see... nope, she did that novel about elephants or something.
Children's Crusade by Ann Packer. Back to Anne Perry: how do you reconcile yourself with your actions as a murderer. Perry and Parker were in a obsessive relationship and, to me, could have been mentally ill. 70 years on both Perry and Parker must still be reminded most days of the killing. Each time they see a grouchy teenager with a parent. Maybe Parker wishes she could talk to her mother once again.
The Dead Play On by Heather Graham. Do you think Perry and Parker have flashbacks? Maybe a smell that generates a memory? There must be plant and animal smells unique to NZ that are rarely found in England.
Sisters of Heart and Snow by Margaret Dilloway. There is a scent that immediately reminds me of frequent childhood visits to a family member's home in Dallas. I smell it every now and again. When I went to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico the cabin used to teach tying fly fishing flies was thick with that scent.

The Stranger by Harlan Coben. Bill Crider linked to an interview with Coben. COben doesn't work at home because he gets distracted by house and home issues. He'll go to the grocery store coffee shop.
Murder on the Champ De Mars by Cara Black. Another murder in Paris. Page 54 says, "A pang hit her." Sweet! the end papers have city maps.
The Edge of Dreams by Rhys Bowen. Rhys is a guy's name, right? Let me check...nope. Rhys is a woman. Hey, Bowen was been awarded an Edgar, and Anthony, and a Agatha award. That means Bowen's books are a big deal.
Life or Death by Michael Robotham. I like this guy's novels but have not read one in a while.
The Fifth Heart by Dan Simmons. I like this guy's novels, too. Another historical novel mixing real people with characters.
Non Fiction
Understanding Your Cat or Kitten by H. Ellen Whiteley, DVM. One of the cats living in my house, Vampire Fang, has been hassling the dog, Petra. I think the cat is jealous that Petra gets to go outside. Vampire Fang will hover by the back door and bolt outside if you are not watching. My wife and I will holler at the children, "Don't let the cat out!"
Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: The Son of the Son: the Don Rosa Library Vol. 1. Republished comics in a nice big hardcover. Page 62 says, "Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!"

The outside wall of the stage in Library Hall was stenciled by Jill Kessenich who donated her time and expertise to the project. Jill also designed the library remodel.
Outdoor ice skating rink in Commons Park the night of February 18, 2015. There was a cold front, temp was -9 Fahrenheit. That's -22 Celsius, Dunedin.
I do not recall if I posted this video of February's Knickerbocker Ice Festival. The weather was perfect. Cold enough for ice and snow but warm enough, and no wind, to be comfortable outside.

Cold Betrayal by J.A. Jance. Some sort of mystery.
NYPD Red 3 by James Patterson Amalgamated Writing Services and Marshall Karp. Karp is an uncommon name. Karp sounds like the name of a P.I. in a novel, good thing Karp writes P.I. novels.
A Dangerous Place by Jacqueline Winspear. Judging by the photo this is a wartime novel set on Gibraltar.
Last One Home by Debbie Macomber. The cover photo says "Expensive gazebo I never use." The graphic artist says, "I'm gonna add some lanterns to this sucker. And here is another. And another. And another. Aw, heck, why stop now?"
The Assassin by Clive Cussler and Justin Scott. No matter where a Cussler novel is set the cover will be covered in flames.
Forgiveness 4 You by Ann Bauer. The cover says Bauer wrote The Forever Marriage. I never heard of that book but will look it up in out catalog. Yeah, we don't have it but copies are available from other libraries.
Mrs. Grant and Madame Julie by Jennifer Chiaverini. Another Civil War era novel, I suppose. Yeah, kinda. Grant's wife owned a woman who was also her "best friend". Yeah, well...
