The Technologists by Matthew Pearl. This guy's books do well. Boston, 1868...marshy... fiery cataclysm... sabotage... shocking... sensationalistic... ingenuity... irrepressible... small secret society... mastermind... studded... shimmer.
I always confuse Matthew Pearl with Daniel Pearl.
Sonoma Rose: an Elm Creek quilts novel by Jennifer Chiaverini. I think Chiaverini makes quilting events a major part of her book tours. Bill Crider should make Bigfoot conferences part of his book tours. Or Emu auctions. Or barbershop quartet conventions. Or noir-ish AARP meetings.
