Non, Fic, Non, Fic, Non

NonFiction

You Don't Have to Say You Love Me: a memoir by Sherman Alexie. Famous author writes about his mother and his relationship with her. It was complicated. That Alexie fella has talent and skill so give this one a try.

Fiction

A French Wedding by Hannah Tunnicliffe. According to the cover image the wedding is outside. My brother was supposed to get married outside and they were rained out. The backup location was the church. My father grandfather dragooned me - like usual - and read the palm. That guy...

NonFiction

The Fact of a Body: a murder and a memoir by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich. Law student sees interview with murderer and experiences visceral reaction that desires the killer's death. Upset by her reaction she starts to research and finds more about herself. Or something. I kinda zoned out while I read the dust cover.

Fiction

Here and Gone by Haylen Beck. Haylen is an uncommon name. I bet he has to spell that for everyone. Oh, hey, this is a pen name for Stuart Neville. Neville has done some really neat crime novels set in Ireland. Which means, of course, that he doesn't have to spell the name very often because the name is make believe. Yes, make believe, not unlike my athletic ability.

NonFiction

Tracking Gobi Grizzlies: surviving beyond the back of beyond by Douglas Chadwick. Should Back of beyond be capitalized? It's used as a location but it's not really a location. I read a very positive review of this book. Some guy goes researching a rare bear in the desert. Did you see that video where a guy films himself after getting clawed by a grizzly? Half his scalp was torn loose and he had to walk three miles to his car and then drive himself several miles to medical care. I won't embed the video: https://youtu.be/tK609rbSBLs because it is grisly. A grisly grizzly attack.
