An Untamed State by Roxanne Gay. Gay lets a lot of attention from other writers but has not yet hit a wider audience. Gay teaches - or used to teach, I don't know what she does - at Eastern Illinois University. She wrote a blog post once about not having many leisure opportunities in Charleston and driving to Champaign to go to the movies. I wrote a completely unhelpful comment that it could be worse, she could be living in Hoopeston, IL.
I'm not sure what this novel is about. I'm typed out and won't check.
Okay, I checked anyway. Plot: Daughter of very wealthy Haitian man is kidnapped in Port-au-Prince.
