First-Degree Minecraft Arsonist
Fiction
Nine Lives to Die by Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown. Another cat mystery. The author phot is a picture of a cat. Not this photo.
Invisible by James Patterson Literary Industries and David Ellis. I'm pretty sure I read an Ellis novel before. Let me check...nope. The dude won an Edgar Award though, that's a big deal. Patterson has a new author photo, I cannot see his watch in this one.
Cop Town by Karin Slaughter. I've never read a slaughter book. I think this is her 17th novel. Unless she did some ghost writing. Oh, I remember her author photo. He photographer did that thing where the face is in focus and everything else is in soft focus. That's a neat effect.
The Arsonist by Sue Miller. A guy I know on the local volunteer fire department never joined the fire department until after he stopped working for the Sheriff's Department. He used to investigate arson crimes and since arsonists may, and sometimes are, be firefighters he wanted to avoid that entanglement.
First-Degree Murder by Christine DeSmet. Doesn't DeSmet teach at UW-Madison. Let me check...yep, she does screenwriting and fiction and her author photo is a small black and white one.
NonFiction
Hard Choices by Hillary Rodham Clinton. Jeez, she stepped in it when saying her family was broke after Pres. Clinton left office.

Seventeen with KoKo Kieran
Fiction
Koko Takes a Holiday by Kieran Shea. SciFi with guns. Former mercenary runs a island holiday resort and a former colleague sends assassins after her. No author photo.
Red Room by Ridley Pearson. Espionage in Constantinople, Turkey with private security guy. Wait. Istanbul, I meant Istanbul. Small black and white photo of author.
Lincoln Myth by Steve Berry. Some stuff about President Lincoln, modern day Utah and some secret. Color author photo across the whole back cover with Berry leaning on a pillar.
Written in My Own Heart's Blood by Diana Gabaldon. Part of her Outlander series in 1778 during the Revolutionary War. Color photo on back with Gabaldon in the snow.
One and Only by Emily Giffin. Didn't Giffin just have another book come out? Nope, last one was 2012. Why is her name so familiar. Oh, well. Her author photo covers the back and I like her photographer's work. The photo has nice color and her face is in focus but her hands and shoulders seem to be just slightly out of focus drawing your eye to her face.
The Dog Year by Ann Garvin. Tightly wound surgeon has to go into twelve step program. Garvin teaches at UW-Whitewater and has a black and white author photo. But, who cares about the author photo when there is a dog nose on the cover. Woof!
One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern. Woman researches a list of names left behind by her dead friend. Ahern has a fancy author photo but it's a real tiny one.
Goodnight June by Sarah Jio. Fictionalization of the writing of Goonight, Moon.
Fourth of July Creek by Smith Henderson. Social worker in Montana helps out feral kid with crazy, survivalist dad. Author has Henderson in a pocket T looking unhappy.
What is Visible by Kimberly Elkins.Girl in 19th Century loses four sense to Scarlet Fever and becomes famous. Elkins has a small color photo like Ahern does.
Smoke at Dawn by Jeff Shaara. More Civil War. This novel has some nice, heavy paper. Shaara lives in Gettysburg. Brett, the Library Director for Waupun Public Library, went with his re-enactor group to Gettysburg last year.
Hot Fudge Frame-Up by Christine DeSmet. Cozy mystery set in Door County. We conversed with DeSmet about her teaching a writing workshop here but she was unavailable.
The Long Mars by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. Some sort of SciFi with Yellowstone erupting.
The Bookman's Tale by Charlie Lovett. Boy Charlie not a girl Charlie.
Large Print
Ghost Ship by Clive Cussler.
Resistant by Michael Palmer.
Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King.

I Don't Know Where You Know Me From: confessions of a co-star by Judy Greer. I know her from Archer for which she voices the character Cheryl Trunt. Page 138 says, "Like if you see a photo of a celeb walking down the street holding an Arby's shake, first of all, those shakes are delicious, so celebrities should walk around with them, but second of all, they were probably paid by Arby's to do it. They, most likely, had their hair and makeup done too, and I'll bet you my entire brass snail collection that there is water in that shake cup (Smartwater because Coca-Cola has deals with celebrities, and celebrities don't eat dairy). I know that some oft-papped stars drive miles and miles out of their way so they can be photographed at pre-arranged locations."
Social Security, Meidcare and Government Pensions: get the most out of your retirement and medical benefits by Joseph Matthews.
Mayo Clinic Book of Alternative Medicine and Home Remedies, second edition edited by Brent Bauer, M.D.
Everything Guide to Online Genealogy, 3rd edition by Kimberly Powell.

Midnight in Europe by Alan Furst. More excellent European espionage in 1938.
Mr. Merecdes by Stephen King. Megan Abbott wrote a review.
Euphoira by Lily King. Huh, this King lives in Maine. I don't think there is a connection unless it's one of Tabitha and Stephen King's kids or kids-in-law. Anthropologists in 1930s New Guinea. Sounds neat as lonely scientists are wearying of their work.
The Vacationers by Emma Straub. Former Wisconsinite writes another novel. A family on vacation in Mallorca bring their problems along.
Vertigo 42 by Martha Grimes. What color is that sweater Grimes is wearing in her author photo? Violet? Pink? Pink-Violet? Mauve? It's a nice color but I should cannot name it.
The Keeper by John Lescroart. I can name Lescroart's shirt colors. Grey and black. Because the author photo is black and white.
Summer House with Swimming Pool by Herman Koch. Famous actor dies on operating table and the doctor tells tale of doctor's bad vacation in France at actor's home.
China Dolls by Lisa See. Ethnic Chinese women meet in 1939 San Francisco. Lisa See wore blue and white for her photo.
The Farm by Tom Rob Smith. Adult child is split between his father and mom and father says mom is psychotic and mom says dad is a villain.
A Shiver of Light by Laurell K. Hamilton. Same photo for Hamilton. She is dressed in black and sitting sideways in a director's chair. One over the knew, high-heeled boot is kicked up high.
Mystery
Tequila Sunset by Sam Hawken. Crime novel set in Ciudad Juarez. I read the first in the series and it was fairly decent.
Strangling on the Stage by Simon Brett. Brett's books have been big here.

Easy Money: Life Deluxe starring [Swedes]. More Swedish crime based off the Swedish series of Swedish novels by a Swede. I really enjoyed the first novel in the series. I bet the second would have sold better in the U.S. if the translated title was not kept as Never Fuck Up.
Anchorman 2: The legend continues starring [comic actors]. Dang, I missed pre-ordering this one.
Pompeii starring Keifer Sutherland and [bunch of B actors]. Muscular guy plays gladiator saves girl as volcano Explooooodes!
Jack Irish: Set 2 starring Guy Pierece and [Australians]. Recommended by Max Allan Collins. I read one of the original books, Bad Debts, and this series is based off the novels featuring an Australian P.I. Set 1 (Season 1) is in transit to us
Eastbound and Down starring Danny McBride. Washed up major league pitcher still a jackape.
Audiobooks on CD
Joe Ledger: Special Ops by Jonathan Maberry. More mad scientists, terrorists, assassins, and evil politicians are defeated by Captain Joe Ledger. Ledger should go after Maberry for Maberry's Facebook posting mania. The Ledger series is fun and the narrator, Ray Porter, really chews up the narration.
Bad Wolf by Nele Neuhaus. I'm not sure what this is. Something about a serial killer in Frankfurt.
Sniper's Honor by Stephen Hunter. Sniping snipers snipe.
Suspicion by Joseph Finder. Guy needing money for his daughter's tuition accepts personal loan and DEA goes after him for taking drug money.

Scott Phillips Returns With A New Novel
Fiction
Hop Alley by Scott Phillips. I missed the pre-publication notices on this one and lucked out by seeing a review in the New York Times Book Review. Phillips specializes in unsavory male protagonists who do good despite their own selfish natures. It's 1890 Denver and low-rent photographer Bill Ogden, from Phillips's Cottonwood, is dodging trouble with a drug addicted girlfriend and violent neighborhood.
Dead Lil' Hustler by Victoria Houston. Another fishing themed mystery in Wisconsin's Northwoods.
Ghost Ship by Clive Cussler and Graham Brown. That's weird. This Cussler cover doesn't have big fiery explosions all over the front.
Suspicion by Joseph Finder. Finder is not wearing a tie for his author photo. You know who Finder reminds me of? Allison Moorer. Only because this Moorer song is playing right now on my computer.
I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. Hayes scripted The Road Warrior. The Lord Humongous is a reasonable man.
SciFi/Fantasy
Ancillary Justice by Ann Lecke. This just won a big award, the Arthur C. Clarke Award. Future artificial intelligence lives inside people. Or something.
Skin Game by Jim Butcher. Guy on the cover has a Colt revolver with an 8" barrel. I don't know those revolvers well enough to identify the model.
