Bill Crider vs. J.K. Rowling

Sheriff Dan Rhodes Prevails

Compound Murder by Bill Crider.  You annual summertime infusion of Rhodes-ness.  The Sheriff investigates the murder of an English instructor at the community college.  The Sheriff eats baloney.  The Sheriff drinks Dr. Pepper.  The Sheriff politely tolerates nitwits and nincompoops.

J.K. Runs Second Place

Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith.  I remember reading the review of this earlier in teh year.  I put the item on the Maybe-I'll-Order-This list but did not do so until the author's real identity was released.  It didn;t take long for a new dust cover to go on and have Rowling's name on it.

Other Fiction

Rose Harbor in Bloom by Debbie Macomber.  Macomber's author photo is on the back cover but only covers about 50% of the area.

Last Kiss Goodbye by Karen Robards.  Robards has blond hair and a purple shirt in her author photo.

Death Angel by Linda Fairstein.  Looks like Fairstein took her author photo at about 5:30 (cannot see her watch clearly).

The Highway by C.J. Box.  Box is posing with his Labrador dog.  My in-laws have two Labs.  One has a big, huge head.

Blood of Tyrants by Naomi Novik.  Fantasy novel with dragons.  Novik has curly red hair.  Naturally curly red hair?

Hotshot by Julie Collins.  One of those FBI books. Collins's photo also only covers about 50% of the back cover.  She is posed on a wooden chair and is weary a shiny shirt.

Possession by Kat Richardson. Fantasy private eye novel. Richardson has been to Murder and Mayhem in Muskego before.  Her author photo is small and her eyes are looking up to her right.  She's probably being attacked by Lorikeets.

I have a feeling that JK's book will circulate a lot more than that Crider guy's.
